SENTENCE STRUCTURE - word order (ordstilling)

Der er ofte sammenfald mellem dansk og engelsk ordstilling som det ses af flg. eks., men bemærk også at ordene ikke kan byttes rundt - de står et bestemt sted i sætningen:

dansk:       han     hejste        et  meget  stort rødt flag
engelsk:    he       hoisted      a   very    big   red  flag

SENTENCE ELEMENTS/SÆTNINGSELEMENTER:

S    = subject/grundled
V    = verb/udsagnsled
v    = auxiliary verb/hjælpeudsagnsord (be, have - can, may, must, shall/will)
O   = object/genstandsled
iO  = indirect object/hensynsled
A   = adverbial phrase (manner, place, and definite time)
a    = adverbial phrase (comments on the whole clause, degree, indefinite time)
con= conjunction

Now  she understands grammar.

In the future she will never be waiting for me in the driveway after school.
