Verbs Followed by an Infinitive

Note the following verbs (and others like them, the list is not exhaustive).
They can all be followed by an infinitive (or a noun), but they may not all be followed by an -ing form, at least not without a change of meaning:

 example: I can't afford to lose my job
           or: They couldn't afford (to take) a taxi
    but not: I can't afford losing my my job
